Overview & Data Sources
Overview
The Office of Data Governance and Analytics (ODGA) is the central data hub for state agencies to share, research, and glean insights from all the data sets that the Commonwealth has to offer. The environment is fully scalable to ensure the end users always have adequate resources available to suit their needs. The environment also uses Microsoft’s latest security standards and frameworks to ensure all data is secure and protected.
Data Sources
The ODGA can send and receive data from many different data sources. Every precaution is taken to ensure data is securely transferred. Some of the main data sources that the ODGA has worked with in the past are:
- Databases
- File Systems
- Agency Data
Databases
The ODGA has the capability to set up direct connections to other agency/organization's databases to send or receive data. The ODGA also has the ability to set up direct connections into another agency's cloud environment to securely transfer data between the two systems.
File Systems
The ODGA can access other agency/organization's file systems or ftp servers to securely transfer data files into the Azure Data Lake. The preferred method for file transfer is SFTP but the ODGA is able to send and receive files in many other secure transfer methods.
Agency Data
The ODGA can broker access into the systems of other agency applications in order to send or receive data. One example of a framework used with this would be APIs.
