Commonwealth of Virginia Wins 2020 NASCIO State IT Recognition Award
Tuesday, October 13, 2020
The Office of Data Governance and Analytics is honored to stand alongside our partners at the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as the 2020 National Association of State Chief Information Officers’ (NASCIO) State IT Recognition award recipient in the category of Cross-Boundary Collaboration & Partnerships for the Framework for Addiction Analysis and Community Transformation (FAACT) data-sharing and analytics platform! These annual awards honor transformational projects and initiatives that address critical business problems, improve business processes and elevate the citizen experience.
The FAACT platform enabled data sharing across the Commonwealth with initial efforts focused on responding to the opioid crisis by combining previously siloed data from different agencies, secretariats, localities, social services, public safety and corrections, drug courts, community coalitions and private healthcare systems. It provides local governments and community organizations with a vast amount of information to help them understand and combat the opioid drug epidemic in their neighborhoods through advanced data analytics and pre-built visualizations that enable quick and informed decisions on how to address—and successfully respond to—the growing opioid crisis in a more proactive manner.
In 2020, the FAACT platform was quickly expanded and is now being engaged in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Local participants use its data analysis tools to help determine where cases are rising, where containment measures are working and to help maintain an adequate supply of resources.
